Phoebe's Favorite #7: Pineapple

Phoebe's Favorite #7: Pineapple by Elsie Ridgley

The Ladies Art Company sold a pattern for a variation with triangles to indicate the fruit's prickly surface.

The pattern was popular before the Ladies Art Company
began selling it.

Edge pattern Dogtooth technique

The only piece cut Dogtooth style here is the Pineapple's outer edge. Everything else is template technique including those square checks but squares are hard to applique.

Excellent solution

The fruit

The edge in template fashion

For the checked piece you might want to cut one piece
from a textured fabric that looks like a pineapple skin.

Triangles, checks and dots...

Or cut the inside teardrop shape as one piece and applique dots atop.

  1. I love this block and am looking for it in EQ8 and/or Block Base but can't seem to find anything close. Is there a BB number for this one?

  2. It's appliqued. Not in my Ency of Pieced patterns or BlockBase but click on the patterns above.
