What'cha Doing Tomorrow Night?

Nerves Frayed?
Feeling gloomy?
Maybe you need a new quilt project to start Tuesday.

Optimists may recall this quote by Martin Luther King during the Civil Rights movement of the 1960s:

"The arc of the moral universe is long but it bends towards justice."

King was paraphrasing minister Theodore Parker in an earlier but related fight for justice.

How about an Arc Bending Towards Justice to keep you calm?

Come out from behind the couch.

There are a couple of traditional patterns that might offer distraction.

Print this patttern out on an 8-1/2" x 11" piece of paper.
It's a 7-1/2" finished block because it has to fit on the paper.

You can find many variations of arc or bullseye patterns.
Here's a Laura Wheeler/Alice Brooks design from the 1930s
called Rainbow. You can also use this for a pattern.

Over at the Grandmother's Choice blog
we did a different Arc. LaVonna's top left.

Dorry made up her own

Of course you can always sew behind the sofa.

See more arcs arranged in circles:

But it may get crowded back there.

  3. I'm actually working on one now like your pattern piece! It's in flannel and so far very forgiving. All your Yankee Notions followers should be pros at this! Thanks for a good blog.

  5. What Wendy said... sigh... speaking of Grandmother's Choice, my plans to make one this year went awry. Tomorrow I'll put aside all other things and make up this block. After I go vote. Instead of having a finish during 100th year of voting rights confirmation (as Cokie Roberts would say - "NOT GRANTED!" We were already citizens, should never have been turned away from polls on that alone), a start on voting day would be an appropriate marker, I think. now, off to find that pattern....

  6. Yes I need a distraction as I plan to stay away from the news tomorrow. This reminds me to finish my bulls eye quilt --- lots of arcs already in the making. Thank you for the post and great quote for these days.

  8. Will be watching (Wednesday morning my time) anxiously. Love that MLK quote and concept. We need some serious course correction. On another note - really looking forward to your updated Encyclopedia!

  9. Four years ago, I was at a quilt retreat making a "I'm With Her" block, excited to have our first woman elected for president.
The MLK quote is just what I needed to hear this morning, and the arc block is perfect. Thank you!

Am so happy to testify about a great spell caster that helped me when all hope was lost for me to unite with my ex-girlfriend that I love so much. I had a girlfriend that love me so much but something terrible happen to our relationship one afternoon when her friend that was always trying to get to me was trying to force me to make love to her just because she was been jealous of her friend that i was dating and on the scene my girlfriend just walk in and she thought we had something special doing together, i tried to explain things to her that her friend always do this whenever she is not with me and i always refuse her but i never told her because i did not want the both of them to be enemies to each other but she never believed me. She broke up with me and I tried times without numbers to make her believe me but she never believed me until one day i heard about the DR. EMU and I emailed him and he replied to me so kindly and helped me get back my lovely relationship that was already gone for two months.
