I recently saw this lovely doll quilt in an online auction.
It's perfect to remake in JellyRoll strips of my
Old Cambridge Pike line for Moda.
The fabrics look to be about 1860-1880s in the original,
the same era as the repro prints.
The pattern is what we call a Housetop, a log cabin with a single row of logs. The blocks alternate up and down and sideways. In other words the long logs are on the sides in every other block.
Ada
48 Blocks finishing to 8"
32" x 48" finished quilt
I figured it out for a crib quilt in EQ7 using 2-1/2" precut Jelly Roll strips and 5" Charm packs.
Cutting an 8" Finished Block
A - Cut 2 strips 2-1/2" x 8-1/2"
B - Cut 2 strips 2-1/2" x 4-1/2"
C - Cut 1 square 4-1/2"
Below is the EQ pattern
And if you don't have time to make a simple Housetop block of Old
Cambridge Pike you can buy a top already stitched on Etsy.
CottonwoodRoadQuilts has this top for sale:
It's made from the whole range of Old Cambridge Pike prints.
Really lovely, such a beautiful line of fabric!
ReplyDeleteI love the original quilt and the secondary patterns of the larger rectangles in dark fabric that pop out at you. What a fun project!
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful idea, and I just happen to have a charm pack for the centers and a jelly roll for the borders of each block! Love this line.
