Birds in a Cherry Tree
Bobbi Finley
24" Square
Looking around the internet I've noticed some projects made using the William Morris reproduction prints I've been designing for Moda. Above is a tile quilt Bobbi adapted from an arts and crafts embroidery panel. She's going to be offering a kit and pattern. I'll let you know when. Right now it's a good idea on how to adapt embroidery or tapestry designs to patchwork. For more about the tile quilt technique see the book she wrote with Carol Gilham Jones called Tile Quilt Revival.

The pattern we packaged with the Morris Tapestry line last fall is called Morris Dance, a 9-patch that shades in a diagonal direction. Above is the model from the Peace and Applique Quilt Shop.

If you've made anything from the Morris fabrics you'd like to show off send a link in the comments.
Thank you Barbara for mentioning my piano runner. I love that fabric so much a I will be making a full sized quilt using the orange peel design.
ReplyDeleteI made this quilt with a "sweet roll" of fabric from the Morris Workshop. The pattern was from Fig Tree designs - Sweet Sugar Swirls

I can't figure out how to edit it so the photo link is live.
I made a queen-size bed quilt from a fat quarter bundle of "A Morris Workshop". I love the colors and this is one of my favorite quilts. I pieced the backing with left-over pieces from the bundle.
