A good part of making reproduction textiles is the hard part....finding the right period print. It's time to shop! Several good repros in shops now (or very soon.) The most difficult prints to find as reproductions are chintz styles before 1840 or so. Michelle Yeo often does early collections. Her latest is
Lost Gardens of Heligan named for a site in Cornwall.
Quite romantic and accurate
Ingrid’s Garden of Heligan from Michelle, available as a kit
Kaari at French General has a new collection in her distinctive style (reds that don't run and Gallic romance)
Jardin du Soleil (Sun Garden)
From the early 19th century with an English accent, a large group called Jane Austen at Home
designed by the Jane Austen House.
Betsy Chutchian usually has a good mid-19th-century collection
in the works. The latest is Pamelia's Path.
It's the year to buy red, white and blue. Carrie Quinn's
American Icons features a Centennial print between the stripes. In 1876 the image was printed as a cheater cloth print.
Centennial faux patchwork
Over in the right column here I keep track of the prices for new prints. The fairly consistent price
is about $13 a yard.
