Nicola Jarvis: Morris Birds

Embroidered Robin by Nicola Jarvis

Here's an exhibit that I missed
in the U.K.s William Morris Gallery.

Embroiderer extraordinaire Nicole Jarvis showed her Morris inspired pieces.

See Nicola Jarvis's patterns here:

And Australian quilt artist Michele Hill showed her
interpretation of Jarvis's Morris birds, appliqued
in fabrics.

Nicola's designs are wonderful! I am almost finished stitching her crewel work Robin.

Those are really beautiful, nice idea to use prints like this in the appliqu├ęs, especially birds.

I was thrilled to see the Nicola Javis exhibition in September. The refurbished William Morris Gallery is fabulous. I highly recommend a visit for any Morris enthusiast visiting London. It is worth the long tube ride. My sister and I spent nearly four hours there.
