Cabin Fever?

1890-1920

Snowed in?

Here's a quilt therapy idea.
Start stitching half-square triangles.

Moda Candy precuts (2-1/2") will give you half-squares that finish to 1 5/8".

Charm packs cut to 5" will give you finished 4-1/8" squares.

Start piecing.
Worry about what to make with them later. Do 20 a day until you see a daffodil.

Here are some ideas when you have a giant stack.

  1. Love it! I regularly do sewing/quilting therapy and this project would be a perfect one to have on hand.

What beautiful quilts to inspire one to use all those HSTs as well!

    Thanks for posting this...

  2. Inspiring photos! My hat is off to each of those quilt creators. I like your thoughts between the photos, especially the hope that our winter doesn't last "that long."

A different question: In your research have you come across "knitting ribbon" by Bernat or Unger? A friend gave me some and I'm just starting to check it out.
    Thanks!

  5. Staying inside and sewing is the best way to spend the day in the winter. I have been getting more small precuts, fun to work with and make mini quilts too.

  8. Ay-yi-yi! I do live in Minnesota, so I should have no problem getting the 488 HST's I need to finish my Bonnie Hunter Mystery AND the 388 I need for Kathy Schmitz's Simply Red! I may need to do more than 20 a day though....

  10. On some of the quilts, you would have to truly enjoy triangles! Imagine making just one of these.

My winter project has been starting a Dear Jane Quilt --- of course, Barbara your fabrics come in very handy and look wonderful. The blocks are pieced or appliqued, 4.5" sq finished.

What if we didn't quilt? How terrible a thought!!!

I can see myself getting lost here. This winter may very well be the one when I should choose to make one of my own inspired by these quilts.
