Large Rock with humans for scale
Michael Heiser's Levitated Mass
Los Angeles County Museum of Art
It's my day to blog about SIZE.
The give-away is over. Jan B won.
Not two... but three precut packages of my latest Moda line
Morris Modernized
The Swag, arranged in relative size:
1 Candy-2-1/2" Squares
1 Charm Pack - 5" Squares
1 Layer Cake - 10" Squares
Here's my challenge block.
It's an odd pattern---looks modern rather than traditional,
mainly because it has 2-way symmetry rather than patchwork's
common 4-way symmetry.
UPDATE:
Here's the link to the pattern instructions:
This link doesn't work. Sorry!!!
https://docs.google.com/viewer?a=v&pid=gmail&attid=0.1&thid=13dfa818df08a7b8&mt=application/pdf&url=https://mail.google.com/mail/u/0/?ui%3D2%26ik%3Dd5c7c1c14a%26view%3Datt%26th%3D13dfa818df08a7b8%26attid%3D0.1%26disp%3Dsafe%26zw&sig=AHIEtbRyXEV9qdiG4ZjGOMHp1uCLnxQ-7w
I made up a couple of 3" versions
I resisted my traditional inclination to make it a four-patch
or a flying goose.
Although this switcheroo is interesting.
I wanted to abandon traditional design and four-way symmetry.
I'd go with two colors.
Quilt from the mid-20th century.
On my separate Historical Modernism blog I've been discussing
scale and relative size in modern and antique quilts.
So I had some ideas.
A design I found on the web
How about this---a sketch from EQ7---
3" blocks inside a 24" block?
Or this?
I decided I was thinking too hard.
Make some 3" blocks and one 6" block.
Humph. That's why I stick with
reproduction quilts.
It will be fun to see what you do with it.
Here's a link to the complete schedule:

ReplyDeleteFirst, I hope you are having an amazing vacation and are finding some time to relax.
ReplyDeleteI LOVE the new fabrics Barbara. Beautiful.
The pattern download as you have probably already seen in other comments is sadly not working. I copied it over to Chrome to see if it worked there and it asked if I wanted to view it in the original location or via HTML and it then said by entering my information on the form at appeared, I would be adding my information as a 2nd email contact. I'm not sure who the first contact would be or maybe it might have been your email it was trying to add me to so I didn't touch that at all. I'll come back later to download the pattern as I'm sure you'll get it corrected when you have some down time on your vacation.
If, at all possibly, I'd love to know where you found that red and black picture. I absolutely love that one. Thank you.
Barbara I love the many ways you can set a block. I never imaged this. Thanks for the chance
