Not so live blog-Charity Auction

Let's pretend it's still Saturday. Here's about 1% of the stuff you could buy at the Silent Auction. The American Quilt Study Group seminar has an annual sale to benefit the organization.

New things, old things, combinations of the two
 like this chicken pincushion make-do.

Many quilts, tops, blocks and fabrics.
You bid with a number you are assigned and come back every few minutes to up the bid.

The number instead of your name keeps it impersonal.
You don't know who you are bidding against.

Our sorely missed Ardis James was represented by stacks of fabric her family brought.

Nice souvenirs from an old friend.

The highest quality items are set aside for a live auction on Saturday night.

I always liked it in the old days when you bid on the silent auction items with your name.
Things did get personal. There were rivalries. I'm not saying who.

But their initials: CB and JG.
We used to donate stuff just to get them to bid against each other.
Things are calmer now.

I bid on many things and didn't get a single thing. Thats ok actually since I made up for it at the vendor's booths!

That chicken pincushion would have been calling my name! Great way to do a silent auction.

What an amazing auction experience- there looks like there were so many things to entice the buyer. It would be hard to resist all those gorgeous fabrics and quilts. I hope you found a treasure or two.
Thanks for sharing this fun experience.
Warmest regards,
Anna

Barbara,
Thanks for blogging about our weekend in NJ - it was spectacular and we are so happy that everyone had such a wonderful time! The pics are great and are a tease to people that were unable to attend this wonderful event. No one went home upset that they didn't see enough quilts!!!!
