How to Pay Attention

The main feature of the AQSG conference is the papers.
Researchers describe their findings, everything from Philadelphia signature quilts to how today's long-arm quilters collaborate with the top maker.

It's all very interesting. But many of us need a little handwork to focus.

Terry did some vivid cut-out chintz applique.

I took pictures of people's projects while they were on the break.

Embroidery is very portable.

It's fun to see everyone's little to-go kits.

Bunny's wasn't so little.

I love seeing the creative ways others tote their handwork. I actually wrote about mine recent method in my last post. Also, I find I can focus on a talk much better when I have something to stitch on. I went to a meeting at Peace Corps a year ago and there were three knitters working away during the "sitting and listening" part of the program. One of them was a man. Unfortunately, I think I would be shunned if I whipped out my applique during my work meetings. Too bad, it wastes less paper than doodling.

You must be a very fast stitcher, cause your hands are a blur! How nice to see that Apple Pie Ridge Star block. I love that block, and was just thinking yesterday about how I should make a few more of them for a wall hanging.

I have often been tempted to bring some small applique or knitting to work on during the sermon at mass on Sundays. Can always listen better when working on a project, too. Would that be frowned upon???????? Hhhmmmmm.........

I have to take a two day tax seminar each December. I always bring along a little cross stitch project of some kind. Usually my boss is sitting right next to me, but he doesn't say a word. He knows that I can multi task!
