During the January thaw I drove down to Dallas to the Moda/United Notions offices.
We packed the dog, the dog's suitcase and a lot of snacks.
Got there on a lovely 65 degree day.
Come inside!
The lobby
I dropped by everybody's offices.
Here's Cheryl the Design Director on the phone.
Jamie her assistant
I bet if I go back in six months
Jamie will have this stool covered with yarn.
The quilt in Susan's office window looked familiar.
We've been working on it for six months.
It's called Northern Lily/Southern Rose made from Civil War Reunion prints.
Look for posts about it in March.
Susan's the graphic artist who designs the kit boxes and suitcases
as well as project quilts, etc.
My destination was the resource library.
They have a lot of antique fabric!
My particular goal was to go through the antique swatch books
and see what I could find to reproduce.
More on what I found in there later.

What a treat to go through all those swatches! Can't wait to see which you chose. (BTW, you don't take requests do you? There are two fabrics in a vintage quilt I just got that my quilting buddies drooled over...)
How cool!♥
I just love a road trip! Can't wait to see what's around the corner :) Have a grand day - Laurie
You are sooooooo lucky! oh, what a wonderful treat to be able to see & touch this history. Can't wait to see your next project. Meg
Oh to go through those antique fabric swatches - what a privilege - luck old you.
Oh so fun! I think you have such an exciting hobby/job.. We get such sweet fruits out of THE THINGS YOU DO!
Do you think I could fit in Dot's carrier next trip? What a treat!
How exciting!!!
I loved reading about your road trip to Moda! I'd sure love to take a tour there someday! I look forward to seeing what you found in the swatch books!
Wow. So cool. Wouldn't all of the designers and Moda in-house already have been through all of that already? My favorite is the first picture though, you are a hoot!! And it looks like she has a corduroy skirt, love it.
Your little car is such a hoot, I had to come back and take another look. Its 1924 D.C. license plate tells me it's the real thing, but boy, does it look small and dangerous; however, you do look like you're having fun on your road trip and being such a careful driving as you are about to turn left.
You come up with the BEST pictures.
What an exciting place to visit..I would be in heaven there..lucky you!
That sounds like the perfect road trip.
Look forward to hearing about what you found in the swatches.
Debbie
