Morris Tapestry Precuts

We designers receive our Moda fabric early. Precuts for A Morris Tapestry have arrived. They'll be in the quilt shops in November.

I took 2 Charm Packs (5" squares) and one JellyRoll Strip (2-1/2" strips) to my sewing group, The Sewhatevers, and asked for Birthday Blocks of 8" finished Pineapple blocks.

They did an excellent job. Thank you, Sewhatevers!

I gave them lots of rules and a paper piecing pattern.

We cut the center squares out of various colorways featuring the bird from the Strawberry Thief print. (Notice ONE person did not follow the bird directions....she never does. She's just like that.)

Other rules that even Roseanne followed:

Horizontal strips from lights; diagonal strips from mediums and darks and corner triangles cut from 2 charm squares.

We got 13 blocks out of the three packages of pre-cuts.

There's a nice balance of light/medium/dark values in this line so shading worked out well.

I'm setting them on point.

Then I received yardage!

I think I'll go for the fabric at top right for the edge triangles.

 (Most of the print in the picture above is the rug.)

I printed my Pineapple paper foundation pattern from the Electric Quilt software package. Under Libraries there's a category for Foundation Pieced and a subcategory for Pineapple. See the EQ blog here:

Paper foundations really help when doing a group project, as the blocks turn out the same size.

I'm putting together an applique group project too in which the blocks range from 10-1/2" to 14".

I am trimming and adding coping strips to the smaller blocks.
