My Spring Fabric

I don't have a spring line of fabric.

This is because the spring line I've been working on looked so autumn-like that we at Moda decided it should come out in July or August, when it will be my fall line of fabric.

It's called Arnold's Attic

It has prints and wovens in blues, greens, oranges and browns.
(Dachshund for scale)

Roseanne Smith is making a Mariner's Compass out of the preview yardage

She's been working on color decisions.
We are crazy about the large leaf print.

Here's her final decision on color.

It's called Arnold's Attic because all the document prints (the originals) were gifts from my friend Arnold Savage. He has quite a stash of antique fabrics. These are all from the late 19th-century.
More about Arnold and more about Arnold's Attic later.

Really like these fabrics, especially the large leaf print. I remember Arnold Savage being featured in (I think) Lady's Circle Patchwork Quilts.

I'm a belgian quilter and discovered your blog a couple of months ago. I absolutely love it, especcially the way you use photographs to express your feelings.
I've been to the V&A in London 10 days ago. It was superb!

Barbara, won't you please tell about the little photo that goes along with your comment box....the unhappy queen. I love the photo, and the one at the top. Just wondering if those are sort of generic pics, or actually a "little" Barbara. The leaf print is really great, I'll be looking for the line. Michele

I entertain myself by doing websearches for pictures that are copyright free. My favorite source is America's Library of Congress website, where there are millions(?)of old photos. Both crying babies are from that site.
Paste this URL into your favorites:

So that's not me. I don't believe there are any family photos of me crying---such a sunny disposition I had (NOT)

Oh, my gosh, that picture is adorable. Your fabric line is beautiful and I look forward to July or August when it comes out. I love wovens so I am very pleased that you added some into the line.
Roseanne, your Mariner's Compass Blocks are beautiful. I can see a lot of work is going into that quilt.

This is a definite buy. My newest book is Quilts of Virginia and the lemoyne star and compass blocks are so interesting. Your collection is going to be beautiful for these type of blocks.

Do the fabric manufacturers think we actually start and finish quilts in the same season? I am looking all over for some good orange fabrics for a Halloween quilt I am starting now to finish in October (hopefully this coming October!)

ps. the leaf print is great!

Your new line is beautiful. I agree with Yankee Quilter; it doesn't matter what time of the year it comes out. I'll be looking for it this summer. So nice!s

I too was wondering if the babies were you! Cute. :)

Love how the fabric quilts up. I am not good at judging fabrics and their uses, so it is great to see them in finished pieces.
